Shoot letter blocks by typing fast and accurately. Complete levels to unlock new challenges!
Type Quest is a 20-level keyboarding game that takes students from their first two keys (F and J) through full sentences at speed. Students shoot letter blocks by typing them before they reach the bottom — the shooting mechanic makes typing feel like a game rather than a drill. Hand diagrams embedded in each level show correct finger placement for every new key introduced, addressing bad habits before they form.
Type Quest is best suited for Grades 3–8. Grade 3 students typically start at Level 1 and progress through the home row during the year. Older students who already type can place into higher levels based on which keys they know — most will advance through early levels in one or two sessions.
Each level has a target WPM shown before it begins. During play, students can gauge their accuracy and speed against the target. Level progress is saved to the browser so students continue from where they left off on the same device.
Levels unlock sequentially to reinforce proper technique before adding speed. Students who already type proficiently will advance quickly — most can complete Levels 1–6 in one or two 15-minute sessions.
